Muskies
need help
to
live in the
Spanish if we
don’t
keep the
pollution out of
the river they
will
vanish again we’ll
try and help by giving
them clean homes
we’ve
got to keep cleaning up
so the pollution
never returns Help!
Muskeys
in the Spanish River
by
Jamie Taylor
An
area of concern for many years,
A
place for muskey until the 1950's.
Now
a place for muskey once more,
To
spawn and eat and be fished some more.
The
muskey are being reintroduced into this river,
To
eat zooplankton,
Then minnows,
Then
finally fish.
The
chemicals and wood chips are gone,
So
muskeys in the Spanish River can live on.

Muskies
welcome back!
We’ve
missed you so.
Swim
in the Spanish,
And
don’t ever go.
The
kings have returned.
Let
them swim to their thrones.
They
shall be honoured
And
very well known.

Back
in the 1940's, the muskeyes disappeared.
All
of the fishers and scientists thought this very weird.
They
discovered the water was dangerous, the fish were getting sick.
They
tested the water and realized chemicals were doing this nasty trick.
They
waited for the muskeye to return, but they never came back.
So
they baited them with fish food, lured them with a snack.
Now
muskeyes are needed, and they’re need for many different things.
They
eat up small dangerous fish and make dinners fit for kings.
The
muskeyes never returned, now what can be done?
We
can put muskeye back into the river, muskeye by the ton!
Let’s
bring out them muskeyes, muskeyes now as long as a foot.
Then
we’ll dump ‘em muskeyes in the river and hope they stay put!
Well
that’s a great idea, now how do I do my part?
If
you catch a muskeye throw ‘em back in the river, cause that’s a good start!
