The Friends of the Spanish River have been at it again! They have added important historical and environmental material to their website to help educators, students, librarians, museum curators and the people of Northern Ontario learn about and enjoy the beautiful Spanish River.
Thanks to Google, their complete film ‘Muskies' can now be enjoyed by logging onto www.friendsofthespanishriver.ca , click on the Muskellunge Reintroduction Program in the main menu, click on ‘Muskie Video', then sit back and enjoy the show!
By clicking onto their new ‘History Section”, you can see a film including black and white photographs of logging the Spanish River taken in the 1940's and 50's by Bill Blight. He is also the narrator. Who knows, you may even see yourself in the film.
Stay in the ‘History Section' and learn all about an incredible Ontario invention, the Alligator boat.
Want to see more, the latest entry in the ‘History Section' features the North's own ‘Pointer Boat' in action in a segment of a 1947colour film. You won't believe what you see but there it is in full colour…another example of the rich history of early logging days in Northern Ontario.
The Friends of the Spanish River are dedicated to…restoring, preserving and celebrating the Spanish River.
