2003 Canoe Draw to be Held in Espanola

The Friends of the Spanish River will be giving away two new canoes at the Espanola Recreation Centre at 5:00pm on July 1, 2003. They are holding this canoe draw to raise funds to help with their continuous environmental work on the Spanish River. For example, on May 14, 2003 the ‘Friends’ and the Espanola Branch of the Ministry of Natural Resources seeded the lower Spanish River with 550 Muskellunge yearlings at a cost of about $30.00 a piece. Over the last seven years, the ‘Friends and the M.N.R. have placed over 7,500 Muskies in the Lower Spanish River at a cost of over $250,000.00!
